Testing the Human Spirit on Foot

"Walking side-by-side with Africans."

Crossing Africa by foot is not an easy undertaking. It can be grueling, tests your limits, can be unpredictable but also rewarding. Mario Rigby, a fitness trainer, wanted to experience the everyday people of Africa. He took a two-year adventure from Cape Town to Cairo. A journey of endurance and a quest to gain personal perspective.

Taking on 12,000 km, the total distance from start to finish requires a certain level of fitness. He prepared by walking many hours a day. Being exposed to a war zone, attacked by wild dogs, or catching malaria, tests the human spirit.

Touched by the humanity of the people he encountered along the way, the hospitality, kindness, and compassion of the locals left a lasting impression.
