City of Meroe
Archaeological World Heritage Site
Remnants of history enable us to have a glimpse of the past and piece together and imagine what life was like.
Historians, archaeologists, anthropologists have explored and made discoveries like the Kingdom of Kush. An ancient civilization that lasted for about a thousand years from 8 century BC until 4 century AD. The city of Meroe is not as popular or well known as the Egyptian relics but it does have the most pyramids in the world.
Steeped in history, excavations have been able to uncover what the Meroe culture was like. A civilization revealing rulership by Nubian kings and queens at the time. A bustling place in trade, craftsmanship and tradition found in artifacts and iconography.
A place of mystery in a historical timeline.
